Al-Sisi praises Egyptians for bearing hardships of economic reform

President inaugurates 7th National Youth Forum titled “Innovate, Start” held in New Capital

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi inaugurated on Tuesday the 7th edition of the National Youth Forum at the New Administrative Capital, under the heading “Innovate, Start”.

The current edition of the two-day conference is witnessing the participation of more than 1,500 youth from 27 governorates. The participants are from political parties, universities, Presidential Leadership Program (PLP), and various social segments.

During his speech in the opening session of the forum, Al-Sisi thanked the Egyptian people for bearing the hardships of the country’s economic reform, highlighting their understanding of the measures taken by the government in this regard during the past five years.

The president also pointed out that dialogue is the most important way to build a bright future. He stressed that the public opinion is a very important aspect to be considered while making major decisions.

Talking about the government’s strategy to deal with current challenges faced by Egypt, namely clean water shortage, Al-Sisi said that Egypt has a comprehensive plan for water treatment.

Egypt suffers a huge water gap. The consumption is rapidly increasing, while Egypt currently has 55.5m cubic metres annually, which are likely to even decline this year.

The conference’s agenda includes a simulation model in the first day, besides the first conference of the state-sponsored Decent Life initiative launched by Al-Sisi early 2019 with the aim of providing better living conditions for Egyptians.

In the second day, the forum will see the graduation of 29 African students from the country’s PLP. The second day will also include a session in which the president will receive and answer questions sent to “Ask the President” social media page, then will hold an open discussion with the participants.

The first youth forum was held in October 2016, in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh. The forum aims to open wide-scale discussions between young people and the president.
