Ex-head of Egyptian Pharmacist Syndicate’s trial postponed to 27 January

Defendant accused of assaulting pharmacist at syndicate’s headquarters

The State Security Misdemeanors Emergency Court postponed on Saturday the trial of former head of the Egyptian Pharmacist Syndicate, Mohy Ebeid, to 27 January, over charges of assaulting a pharmacist at the syndicate’s headquarters, citing further review of the case’s documents.

The court also renewed the detention of Edeid for 15 days.

The Central Cairo Prosecution office has referred the case to the Supreme State Security Emergency Court to face an urgent trial on Saturday.

Ebeid assaulted pharmacist Islam Abdel Fadil last October at the headquarters of the syndicate during a quarrel between the syndicate’s management board members. The prosecution then ordered the detention of Ebeid for four days pending investigations.

In December 2018, the Administrative Court ordered the dismissal of Ebeid and suspended all decisions taken by him during the recent period.

Earlier, the State Commissioners Authority of the State Council recommended in a report the approval of the recommendation of a general assembly of the syndicate which demanded the dismissal of Ebeid and rejected any decision made by Ebeid during his term.
